Over the weekend I shot my role in Rik's indie project "Inside A Change". It was also Rik's B-Day so I guess this made a dope present.We shot it at Ed Roc's "Da Edge of Madness (Thanks for being patient) studio. This is the same spot where I recorded all the MixCDs & "DayJob". In the film I play a character named "Darius" whose stage name is "Epitome". In this scene I'm in the studio with my producer/engineer "Freddy" listening to this new beat he just did for me when out-of-the-blue in walks the lead character my homie "Chris" who I haven't seen in a minute. I won't give it all away but let's just say that this scene will be a great moment in the film. I wasn't sure if I could nail it because I had gotten sick after the show at S.O.B.'s but after a couple of dry runs I got into character. As a result we didn't wrap until 1 in the morning. Hot 97's Who's Next??? Concert

Last night we got it shaking!!!
I performed last night for Hot 97's Who's Next concert which was hosted by Peter Rosenberg at S.O.B.'s. There were also performances by Teyana Taylor and Masta Ace. Despite having to do 120 mph to get there so I wouldn't be late and performing "Feel This Way" with only 4 girls in the room (2 being my sister & her friend. The other being my shorty & her friend. Then everyone else was a dude.) But it was LIVE!!! I had Band Camp member DJ Statk Selektah DJ my set. We performed "Job Song","Breakfast Of Champions","Grammy Family","Uncle Rahiem" and then "The Good, The Bad,The Ugly." After which I brought out my Special Guest, my cousin, Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. This is the first he & I had performed together in a couple of years. We did "Stressed Out" and then an unreleased joint produced by J-Dilla called "The Consequences" I also brought my former partner Menace from the group "GUILTY". He spit a freestyle which received a warm reception. I closed the show by performing "Q.U.E. Another E.N.S.","Feel This Way", and "Don't Forget'Em".
And I almost FORGOT!!! Midway through my set there was some chick in a hot pink leotard who jumped on stage and started dancing like one of the "Fly Girls" on "In Living Color". So if you wonder who the chick in the picture on stage is, that's her.

This week HipHopDX is running a feature on me entitled "UnBreakable" (Cuz you can't break a nigga who refuses to go "broke") I was interviewed by HipHopDX's Jake Paine and it's a DOPE interview. I got to talk about the 1st anniversary of "DayJob",the NEW LP "You Win Some, You Lose Some" and the Band Camp LP. I learned that Paine loves "Do The Math" (I do too). I recently hosted XM Radio's DJ Dub MixCD "Style & Grace"Vol.5
It features a variety of past & present Consequence material.Shout out to Dub & his management team for putting this together. Checkout the interlude as they are from a recent interview we did on XM Radio. In addition Dub did a very G.O.O.D. job on the "Blends" or "Mixes". If I had one critique,it would be that there is an annoying "Style & Grace" drop that keeps popping in & out. I think it's Bentley.

The countdown is ON!!! Next week we begin filming Three21 Films 2nd Independent movie entitled "inside A Change" which will be directed by Band Camp member Rik Cordero. They have had 2 previous "Table Reading" (rehearsals) but last night was the first one I was able to attend (Don't blame me, blame Uncle Sam!!!). Anyways it was dope. Understand, I've been vibing with Rik on how to shoot this movie for the last 6 months. To see it acted out in it's entirety made me feel good for him. In the film I play a character named Darius who's stage name is "Epitome". He is friends with the main character "Chris" in which they share a common bond through music. Can you believe this shit right here. I don't know whether to put question marks or exclamation points. This is Afrika "BabyBam" aka Phil of Da Jungle Bros. and he's out there bad. This is NOT a representation of the Native Tongue's IDEOLOGY. Like seriously you won't see MYSELF, Tip, Litro, Tribe Or De La doing NO SHIT LIKE THIS!!! PLEASE DON'T GET IT TWISTED. CUZ IF YOU THINK NIGGAZ MOVE LIKE THIS CLOWN, IT'LL GET YOUR NOSE BROKE FOR REAL!!! When I was brought into Tribe I was told this motherfucker was responsible for the movement. I respected that until there was an incident in one the sessions we were having while recording "Beats, Rhymes & Life". Tribe, De La & Jungle scheduled a meeting during one of our sessions to put the "Native Tongues" back together. From the inception of the meeting the "JB's" were acting like Hoes. Trust me this ain't nothing I'm saying now because he's on the Internet looking like "His Lip Gloss Is Poppin'" Those within the circle know this situation almost got me kicked out of Tribe during "Beats,Rhymes & Life." Well guess what fellas CAN'T Nobody kick me out of shit NOW!!! I knew this nigga was a BITCH then and he's definitely looking like a BITCH Now!!! It's such a shame when you see people go from Hero to Zero. This puts a nasty black eye on everything that Da Jungle Bros. ever accomplished.

I'd like to thank every who helped me celebrate the 1 year Anniversary of D.Q.Y.D.J. What's funny is that me thinking so hard about "DayJob" I over looked one of my beloved projects. The one that got me the deal at Sony. "Takem' To The Cleaners"
I put out "The Cleaners" on SureShot Recording which was owned by Chris Landry. "Cleaners" is definitely a CLASSIC. I put so many good records on there that when I did get the deal at Sony I had to start from square one. Songs like "I See Now" Featuring Kanye & Little Brother, "So Soulful","Turn Ya Self In" or "Trains" for the matter could have easily fit in to the sequence of "DayJob".It's ill because when Kanye met with Sony about doing the deal for G.O.O.D. Music one of heads of A&R Kawan "KP" Prather had said,"Oh I bought Takem To The Cleaners. Consequence is a GO!!!" So if you've never heard "Takem' To The Cleaners" go to iTunes or my MySpace page and treat yourself to some classic Hip Hop.

It's Our Anniversary!!!

Today is a SPECIAL Day!!! It's our Anniversary!!! (No Tony,Tone,Toni Intended Lol) A year ago today, by the grace of Allah , I was able to get Sony to reluctantly do THEM selves a favor and put out the unsung CLASSIC "Don't Quit Your DayJob." This project is as close to me as a child would be to their parent. It has effected every part of my mind,body and soul. The ironic metaphorism of the album title has really been challenging my intellect as of late. You come up with album title but never do you think you would actually have to live it out. Since March 6th 2007 I have NOT stopped promoting this record. I am so proud of the progress this LP has made. The "DQYDJ" campaign is TRUE testament of Artist Development. Based on how major labels roll out a "NEW" artist the only single I would have had is "Callin' Me". I will be the first to admit that "Callin' Me" wasn't the 1st single I should have went with, BUT it was. We know why it wasn't BUT here's why it was??? It got the record out!!!
I WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH IN 2008!!!
The Backstabbers who thought they dumped me the dirt will understand why I "Refuse To Die".
So to "Job Song","Don't ForgetEm","Uptown","The Good,The Bad,The Ugly","Night Night","Pretty Little Sexy Mama","Feel This Way","Callin' Me","Disperse","Uncle Rahiem","Grammy Family","Who Knew My Luck Would Change" and "The Skits" Daddy Loves You Lol.
The blessing with this experience is that everyday a NEW fan is just getting wind of this record for the 1st time. Since the release of the videos for "Uncle Rahiem","The Good, The Bad,The Ugly" and "Feel This Way" a lot of people are assuming the album either just came out or is due to be released. Sometime you have to know Pain to enjoy Pleasure and vice versa. For the Rap Game understand "HERE COMES THE PAIN!!!"
As I begin recording the NEW LP "You Win Some, You Lose Some" I bare in mind all the sacrifices that were made to get here. Many people believe that "Beats,Rhymes & Life or maybe my appearance on "Spaceship" or "Gone" are what I hold dear.DQYDJ and The Cons Vol.1 "All Sales Are Final" are the crowning achievements of my career. These are the works I want to be remembered for because they are Dexter R. Mills Jr. in the form of musical composition. With that being said, to my debut LP "Don't Quit Your DayJob", Happy Anniversary!!!
